CGS expands its product portfolio with ORIS X GAMUT

Expanded gamut printing and brilliant images – with software instead of expensive ink

CGS Logo XGAMUT kl Hainburg, Germany (September 18, 2018) – The latest product from leading color management developer CGS is ORIS X GAMUT, a fully automated software product for expanded gamut printing on conventional and digital presses.

ORIS X GAMUT expands the full color space and multi-color ink set of the press.  A specific spot color can be reproduced without the need for a special ink formulation, a feature of definite interest to brand owners and the packaging and label industries.  In addition, ORIS X GAMUT increases the color saturation of images, especially important in the production of brilliant pictures for photobooks and complex packaging designs, for example.

All this is possible through a perfect match of software features and intelligent workflow tools. ORIS X GAMUT extracts the DNA of the spot and CMYK/RGB colors in the print job and translates them into the expanded fixed color palette (CMYK+n) of the press. Usually this expanded gamut is achieved at press by adding orange, green and violet to the standard process inks (CMYK+OGV). The process makes use of the included special color reference tables, i.e. the Pantone color library or a table created automatically from imported CxF data.

The software leads the user through the whole process, from reading in the test chart to output of the final, optimized, print job – all done automatically.

ORIS X GAMUT has many advantages, not just to the printer but also the brand owner and end customer. Press set-up and make ready times are significantly reduced, regular ink changes and the subsequent clean-up time are, for all intents, eliminated – especially important with short run jobs. Press up-time is greatly increased as the fixed ink set means that different print jobs can be combined into a single press run. Expensive special inks are no longer required, are not wasted and inventory costs are reduced. Paper waste is also reduced. All leading to a much more environmentally friendly process.

An incredible amount of time and costs are saved in many areas of the print production workflow. ORIS X GAMUT frees up resources for the printer, enabling an increased production capacity. With an increase in production capacity printers can focus more energy on winning new customers.

ORIS X GAMUT is a product of CGS Publishing Technologies International GmbH. The company was founded in 1985 in Hainburg and is a worldwide leader in color proofing, color management and OEM software solutions. In addition to headquarters near Frankfurt, CGS has operations in the USA and Japan and many other countries, as well as a global network of dealers.

CGS enhances ORIS Professional Media portfolio

Advanced OBA proofing paper offers outstanding benefits

CGS ORISProfMed PPUniNEW web

Hainburg, Germany (July 27, 2018) – CGS Publishing Technologies International has updated its ORIS Professional Media portfolio with ORIS PearlPROOF Universal NEW. The advanced OBA proofing paper exhibits strong and outstanding benefits.

The great advantage of ORIS PearlPROOF Universal NEW is that it meets the requirements of Fogra 51 (PSOcoated v3) and, with a paper simulation, also those of FOGRA 39 (ISOcoated v2). It is therefore possible to reproduce ISO standards within very tight tolerances. The new paper is also compatible with the GRACol standard. As a result, fewer paper roll changes are necessary, which leads to an increase in productivity.

But there is even more. ORIS PearlPROOF Universal NEW has an extra coating layer, which allows for shorter ink drying times, particularly with the Epson SC-P printer series, increased lightfastness and a considerably reduced paper aging rate. ORIS PearlPROOF Universal NEW offers a maximum of flexibility and quality at a very attractive price.

CGS has created the ORIS Professional Media family of contract proofing media based on detailed feedback from major publishers, printers and industry-standard organizations especially for the stringent needs of digital proofing. Because no inkjet proofing system is complete – nor can it provide contract-proof quality – without the right media. ORIS Professional Media have an exclusive ultra-fine-grain nanoporous coating and provide twice the surface area of common microporous papers, thus allowing for higher ink densities, uniform ink absorption, better shadow detail, larger color gamut and faster drying.

CGS Publishing Technologies International GmbH is a global leader of color management solutions, digital proofing systems and specially formulated media. Headquartered near Frankfurt (Germany), CGS also has operations in the United States, Japan and many other countries, as well as sales and support partners throughout the world.
