Solutions for the Decor Market

Floors, furniture surfaces, tiles or wallpaper. We are surrounded by decorative surfaces and in many cases they are printed. Many surfaces imitate natural materials, especially wood and stone, and are almost indistinguishable from them.

Surface Scans

Many decors are based on natural materials. The design process for a new surface therefore often begins with a surface scan. It is important that not only the color, but also the texture and gloss can be recorded. The surface scanners from Metis meet all these requirements and are not only used in decor development, but also to visualize the finished product in virtual rooms. CGS ORIS is the exclusive sales partner of METIS in Germany and, with its expertise in color management, helps to ensure that the color impression of the scan is always as similar as possible to the original.

PBR calculates a variety of surface information by dynamically combining their properties.

Surface Proof

The appearance of a decor is determined by the color, texture and gloss of the surface. With SURFACE PROOF, we offer a further development of our proofing software in conjunction with UV flatbed printers from Roland DG that takes all three dimensions into account. SURFACE PROOF plays an important role in the development of new decors, as it makes it possible to physically reproduce new designs directly, combine them with existing textures or print them with color variations, saving time and resources.

We are also continuing to develop the digital production of laboratory press plates in order to shorten the sampling process by weeks and thus save costs.

Digital Production

A special feature of decor printing is that the print results are often side by side and even the smallest differences can be perceived. This applies to wallpaper as well as tiles or flooring. Whether digital or analog printing, the demands on color accuracy in decor printing are higher than in any other printing segment. With X GAMUT, we offer color management software that meets the highest demands for color consistency over time, production location and printing process.

QRES Technologies: Digital printing on flat or rounded, extruded profiles up to six meters long.

Highly dynamic due to
changing fashion trends

Similar to the fashion market, the decor market is driven by fashion and constantly changing trends. As a result, there is great pressure on companies to constantly develop new surfaces. Accordingly, solutions that can be used to create cost-effective prototypes that are as close as possible to the end product are important.

Feel, shine and color are the designer's scope.

Regardless of whether it is wallpaper, tiles or laminate flooring, the appearance of a decorative surface is always determined by color, texture and gloss. Modern proofing solutions must take all these dimensions into account.

Low level of standardization in analogue printing

Gravure printing is still the most frequently used printing technique in decor printing today. The degree of standardization, especially in analogue decor printing, is still surprisingly low. Increased by the shortage of skilled workers and high quality requirements, the need for automatable, stable color management processes is growing.

Individualization promotes the spread of digital printing

The trend towards personalization is steadily increasing. Consumers are looking for ways to make their rooms unique and reflect their personal style. Individually designed furniture, bespoke wall art and personalized decorative items are in high demand. This results in an increasingly important role for the decoration market.
